Head of AML/CTF Department
We are looking not just for a manager, but for a leader to overhaul, redesign, and strengthen AML/CFT processes, architecture, and the team. This role involves managing a team of 30+ professionals across multiple divisions, ensuring efficient operations, regulatory compliance, and continuous process improvements. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, analytical expertise, and a collaborative spirit to drive performance, uphold regulatory standards, contribute to the organization’s strategic goal, and acting as a key point of contact for regulators and auditors.

- Plan and oversee the work of a 30-people department consisting of multiple teams, ensuring tasks are allocated proportionately based on competencies and that assignments are properly supervised and controlled.
- Coordinate the activities of all divisions, teams, and special officers within the AML/CTF Department, ensuring tasks are assigned appropriately and verifying compliance with internal procedures, legislation, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Collect, review, and assess periodic reports from the AML/CTF Department’s divisions, teams, and special officers to ensure accuracy and alignment with organizational goals.
- Oversee the organization and continuous improvement of effective KYC, transaction monitoring, QA, STR, Sanctions, analysis processes, risk assessments, and the establishment of business relationships, along with the monitoring of activities and financial transactions.
- Distribute tasks among various subdivisions, providing constructive feedback to enhance performance and efficiency.
- Proactively collaborate with other departments, including Compliance, Operations, IT, and others.
- Gather and provide recommendations for necessary technical developments to ensure effective AML/CTF implementation.
- Analyze complex issues, provide well-founded recommendations, and make informed decisions to resolve them.
- Ensure the timely preparation, submission, and presentation of AML/CTF reports to the CEO and Management Board, in accordance with internal company procedures. This includes delivering quarterly and annual departmental reports with insights and performance evaluations.
We would love you to have
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Law, Finance, Business, or related field.
- 5 years of experience in AML/CTF compliance within the financial sector.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing a department or division with several subdivisions.
- Strong analytical and finance-related skills, including Analytical Skills and Finance, to interpret complex data and assess AML risks.
- Extensive experience in AML, sanctions, and financial crime compliance within banking, payments, or FinTech environments.
- Deep knowledge of EU and local regulatory frameworks, including AML directives, KYC/KYB requirements, and transaction monitoring standards.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex regulatory concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Relevant academic background in Law, Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field; professional certifications (e.g., CAMS, ICA) are an advantage.
Salary
Salary for this position ranges from 5000 to 10500 EUR (before taxes). The final offer depends on your experience, competence, and motivation.
